Shelbyville Municipal Water & Sewer

Shelbyville Municipal Water & Sewer Commission (SMWSC) was established by city ordinance in March 1993 to meet the growing water and sanitary sewer needs of the City of Shelbyville. Today SMWSC serves residential, commercial and industrial customers in the city and surrounding areas. The primary source of water is from Guist Creek Lake for the Shelbyville area while the remainder of customers are served by purchasing water from Louisville Water Company.

Our mission and vision is to maintain a comprehensive Water and Sewer Master plan for the service area that identifies and prioritizes needed facilities and to protect public health and the environment by providing high-quality water and sewer treatment services in an effective, efficient and responsive manner while keeping our rates low and meeting evolving regulatory requirements.
